BECOMING AN OFFICER
It takes a special individual to want to serve their community. We are looking for those willing to go the extra mile and work harder than the person next to them. We look to prepare our officers so they can not only be successful when they arrive to the Academy, but to rise to the top and set the tone for other applicants.
STEPS TO THE PT TEST
PUSH UPS
Applicants have 60 seconds to get in 22 push ups. You cannot fall to your knees at any point during those 22 push ups. Your chest must touch a block the size of a fist in order for the push up to count.
SIT UPS
You have 60 seconds to finish 25 sit ups. Your fingers must be interlocked behind your head and elbows need to touch your knees in order for each sit up to count. Breaks can be taken in the up position - NOT while lying down.
OBSTACLE COURSE
Participants get 90 seconds to complete the obstacle course. It involves pushing a vehicle 15 feet, scaling a fence, jumping through a window, balancing on a beam, and dragging a 165 pound dummy.
RUN
The final element of the PT Test is the distance run. Applicants have 15 minutes and 28 seconds to complete a 1.5 mile run. It is done outdoors with officers in front of and behind you to control traffic.
